Difference Between Router, Hub And Switch

Difference b/w Hub, Router, And Switch

Hub, Switch, and Routers are electronics Device and many people are so confused about them. Let me clear that confusion.

Hub is a Passive Device (Without Software) used to transfer Data between Computer or network devices in the form of electrical Single or in bits but it doesn’t analyze or do anything with data. Hub is only used to connect many Networks devices together so we can easily exchange the data. Hub basically uses MAC Address for data exchange.

By contrast, Router is a Networking device also used to transfer Data between Computers or networking Devices but in the form of packets. It also analyzes the data being sent over a network, changes how it is packaged and sent it to another network or over a different network. The router is an intelligent Device and uses IP Address.

A switch is a Networking device that filters and Forwards Packets between LAN segments. It is used to connect many devices together on computer networks. The switch is used only in LAN. Switch Transmitted Data in the form of Frame & Packets Switch keeps a record of MAC Addresses of the entire connected Devices. With this information, the switch can identify which System is connected to which port. So when the Frame (data or Packet) are received, it knows exactly which port to send it to, without increasing.
